READING (AND OTHER) CHALLENGES

I love a challenge. Specially those online lists, you know? The ones with prompts and suggestions and themes. I love them so much that, last year, there was a point I was participating in five different ones. Me and my friends even created different group chats for each one, which may sound insane. And it actually is. But it was so much fun!

There was a photography one, even though none of us are photographers, where every week we chose a prompt from a list and posted a photo on Instagram. Along with that, we created the ‘it’s a first’ one, which I showed in my bujo post — every month, do something you never did before and post a picture of it. I might skip the pic part, but I’m definitely trying this one again this year.

There was a movie one, where every week we would watch a movie of a certain genre and/or theme and discuss it afterwards. We didn’t get far with this one, but the habit of watching something and discussing it lives on.

There was a music one, the #NeverEndingSongChallenge. We found and created 365 ‘categories’ for it, and posted 365 songs over an entire year. We’re doing it again this year — if you’re interested, you can find all the songs under that hashtag on Twitter!

And, of course, there was a reading one. It was not so much of a challenge, but more of a book club, where we’d take turns to suggest books and read together. This one is also still going on, but this year I decided to add an extra layer to it, which is the Goodreads + Popsugar challenge.

My goal is not to check every single box, but try to choose my readings according to the suggestions in the challenge. I’m also challenging myself to read more books than last year, so, hopefully, the challenge will help with that, too. I’m about to finish the first read of the year — Suicide Club, by Rachel Heng. I have mixed feelings about this one, but I’ll tell you all about it on Goodreads after I finish it.

What about you, do you like these types of challenges? Are you participating in any this year? Tell me!

  1. I’m looking forward to a new granddaughter in the next week or two! This will make two! I read but don’t write! I like black ops and World War 11 genre but enjoy good romance too!
