OCTOBER IN SONGS

Another month, another playlist!

October brought back a few oldies that I either have never listened to before or rediscovered this month. It also includes one or two songs that might appear in some future book playlist…

Here they are:

Iris – Goo Goo Dolls (Boyce Avenue cover)
And I don’t want the world to see me
‘Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

Iris is my favorite song of all time. I know it’s hard to make such a statement when there are so many amazing songs out there, and when I’m finding new ones literally every day, but every time I listen to it again, I’m like ‘oh, right, this is my favorite song’.

It’s also the song that introduced me to Boyce Avenue ten years ago. I started listening their covers because of this one, and they quickly became one of my favorite bands. This month, they’ve been releasing new versions of early covers, and Iris was one of them, and it just made me remember… oh, right, this is my favorite song, played by one of my favorite bands.

Otherside – Perfume Genius
Tethered by timing
Let it undo
Aimless and ripped
From the root
Binds you

I found this one in a random playlist on Spotify, I can’t remember which. I’ve been working a lot, and using concentration playlists to keep me focused, so maybe it was one of them. Except it had the opposite effect – it tool totally out of my concentration bubble. The lyrics are amazing, but what really got me in this was the melody. It makes me thing of a glitter explosion every time I hear it.

Agora Eu Quero Ir – ANAVITÓRIA
Agora eu quero ir
Pra me reconhecer de volta
Pra me reaprender e me apreender de novo
Quero não desmanchar com teu sorriso bobo
Quero me refazer longe de você

So, this is a Brazilian duo. They have recently starred a movie on Netflix (Ana e Vitória, totally recommend it) and I absolutely fell in love with them! I’ve listened to some of their music before, but now I’m obsessed. This one is an oldie, but it’s my current favorite.

We Are Infinite and Only You – Lights & Motion

I found this band in one of those concentration playlists I mentioned. I’ve been listening to a lot of instrumental music lately, which is something new for me.
This whole EP is amazing, but these are the ones that have been on repeat lately.

This is it! Have you heard any of these songs/bands before? Do you have any recommendations for me? Talk to me in the comments!

Remember you can follow me on Spotify and see (or hear) for yourself the songs that I listen to on repeat three hundred times.
